All Creatures Great and Small

All Creatures Great and Small
Vol: 21 Issue: 31 Friday, March 31, 2017

A Zogby poll found the vast majority of Americans want schools to teach the weaknesses, as well as the perceived strengths of Darwinian thought.

According to the report, which was commissioned by the Discovery Institute Center for Science and Culture, respondents were given the two following statements:

Statement A: “Biology teachers should teach only Darwin’s theory of evolution and the scientific evidence that supports it.”

Statement B: “Biology teachers should teach Darwin’s theory of evolution, but also the scientific evidence against it.”

Of those surveyed 78% chose statement B. The same poll also asked respondents whether they believed in natural selection or intelligent design. A majority chose intelligent design, although a third of respondents said they believed in evolution as an unguided process.

Dr. John West, associate director of the Center for Science and Culture, said the findings contradict the prevailing notion that “a small group of the uneducated” – as critics charge — drove skepticism over Darwin’s theory.

“Media reports insinuate that a right-wing conspiracy of know-nothings and religious-extremists is afoot,” he said. “But the new Zogby poll represents a broad-based and well-informed public consensus for academic freedom on evolution. The Darwin lobby has isolated itself from public opinion.”

It never ceases to amaze me the way that the numbers don’t lie, but the number crunchers do.

The Zogby poll was challenged by atheist groups like the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry, and the National Center for Science Education on the grounds the questions were skewed.

Since the CIA World Factbook’s section on religion in America lists the US population at 51.3% Protestant and 23.9% Catholic, (75.2% ) a finding that 78% favor intelligent design is entirely consistent with the general population.

(What is inconsistent is the assumption that the 4% of Americans the CIA says have “no religion” are the ones getting all the press.)

Assessment:

What is killing Darwinism in America isn’t religion, but genuine science. Every living thing on the face of the earth has DNA and the DNA in all living creatures has the same chemical composition.

Francis Crick was a physicist who had been a code-breaker during WWII. After the war he teamed up with a biologist named James Watson and together they cracked the DNA code.

In 1957 they discovered that the four base chemicals of DNA function exactly like alphabetic characters in written text. The sequential arrangement of these four base chemicals determine whether you are a blonde with blue eyes or the artichoke on his dinner plate.

Think of DNA like a PC loaded with an operating system. Install MS Word and it is a word processor. Install games and its a game console.

Install different software and it can run a water treatment plant. Or it can run a hospital. Land an airplane. Mimic a television. It’s all in the instructions.

The four ‘characters’ in DNA aren’t metaphorical, they actually function like characters in a message system.

How complicated a message can be carried by only four characters? The message you are reading right now is nothing more than a carefully arranged series of sequences of 0’s and 1’s or, ‘bits’.

A computer ‘bit’ is the simplest form of computer code because it can exhibit only one of two states. You can think of a bit as being either Yes or No, On or Off, True or False, 1 or 0.

All DNA, whether it is that of a single-celled creature or an evolutionary scientist, consists of that basic PC plus programming. But with FOUR basic characters to work with instead of the two that make up a computer ‘bit’.

The DNA/PC is then programmed using these four basic characters. Every cell in every living being contains one of these elegant little PC’s programmed with the information, networked with all the other cells which arranged themselves to form distinctive organs, tissue, etc., according to the blueprint encoded into the DNA.

This incredibly sophisticated information is embedded in the DNA of the simplest living creature on earth. We’ve been studying this code for almost fifty years and have yet to unlock but a fraction of its secrets. A former Microsoft architect-level programmer working on a computer simulation of how genetic information is expressed was shocked by the design logic built in to DNA. It is the same as basic computer logic, he said, but far more elegant than anything we could conceive.

That same logic was built into every cell of every living thing that ever lived. Think of it! The computer code we’re now learning to read was published at the foundation of the world. Darwin saw natural selection and evolution as the explanation for variations between species.

Darwin proposed a mechanism of natural selection acting on random variables, best summarized as survival of the fittest. But he put his emphasis on natural and random as an alternative explanation for intelligent design.

Of course he did. He couldn’t have imagined in 1845 that tiny PC’s preprogrammed with carefully arranged machine code containing blueprint instructions for every molecule of every living species was responsible. But they were there whether he could imagine them or not.

Darwin’s theory always had a fundamental flaw that Darwinists continue to avoid to this day. How life was created from non-life in the first place. The primordial ooze theory is neo-Darwinian, but it still fails to offer a logical explanation for the emergence of life from non-life.

But that doesn’t explain the incredibly complex DNA coding necessary for that first life to appear — including encoding for the size and shape for the offspring of that first life. Before we can ask ourselves how the PC got programmed, we first have to ask ourselves who built it in the first place?

Let that buzz around in your head for a minute. We’ve heard evolution compared to a tornado ripping through a junkyard and randomly assembling a brand new Cadillac, or the absurdity of finding a Rolex on a beach and assuming it evolved there over millions of years.

DNA is a computer more elegant than the one you are reading today’s OL from. It is similar, but endlessly more powerful. Every living cell that ever existed contains one. Every DNA computer contains the complete blueprint for the type of creature it is. It also contains the blueprint necessary to reproduce after its own kind.

As brilliant as our most brilliant supercomputer might be, it operates according to the amount of information that can be conveyed by two-digit ‘bits’ while the DNA in an acorn contains four.

Bill Gates says DNA is like a software program, but much more complex than everything we’ve ever written. Even Richard Dawkins acknowledges that it’s a machine code. Astonishingly, both men are seemingly comfortable with the idea that it evolved naturally, somehow.

It seems to be a case of having decided in advance that there is no God, and therefore any evidence that suggests the possibility of design must be refuted. It sounds foolish. Because it is.

The Intelligence behind the design put it this way: “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.” It takes a determined and studied ignorance to deny the intelligence design incorporated into every strand of DNA. And if there is an Intelligence capable of such design, then there must be a Creator. If there is a Creator, then the only logical way to express the existence of such a Being would be as God.

Assuming God is intelligent enough to program my DNA so that my son Rick looks like a junior version of me, it is logical to assume He is capable of communicating with me using a language I can understand. But since I am a sentient being, I can imagine whatever He is saying whatever I want, so it is also logical that He would provide a moral code that is compatible to man’s genetic code.

In fact, it would seem illogical to provide one without the other. My DNA was encoded by God with all the information necessary for my physical body to live on this earth. The Bible was encoded by God to enable my spirit to live on this earth inside this physical body.

“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” (Romans 8:6)

“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1st Corinthians 2:14)

God precisely how complex our DNA was two thousand years ago when He inspired the Apostle Paul to write:

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.”

It is as if Paul is speaking directly of the double helix and directly to Darwin and his followers.

“For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.” (Romans 1:19-21)

No scientist who has any level of competence in understanding of the complexity of DNA can argue that he doesn’t know. No skeptic or atheist can honestly claim that he has “reason” on his side of the argument. Unless there is a reasonable explanation for DNA that doesn’t include a Someone to invent the computer first, and then program it afterwards.

Apart from a Creator God, there isn’t one.

“For Thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise Thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are Thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” (Psalms 139:14)

Mystery Babylon, Mother of Harlots

Mystery Babylon, Mother of Harlots
Vol: 21 Issue: 30 Thursday, March 30, 2017

Pretty much every time I publish a column in which I note that the Bible is silent insofar as any mention of a fifth, overarching superpower resembling America, I get a flood of emails telling me where I went wrong.

Invariably, they identify the entity called Mystery Babylon, Mother of Harlots as the United States of America. One reader emailed yesterday, saying;

“O come on!! America is talked about in the Bible, New York city gets nuked (Revelation 17 &18). How else did you think the anti-christ takes over the world economy,w/ his new system..the mark of the beast to buy & sell.

One key to this (there are many) is Rev: 18 verse 11 &12. The seventh and eighth have not risen to power but in Revelation 13 it explains a little about them and the mark of the beast. Please open your eyes it’s all so plain to see!”

The problem here is one of wishful thinking. I would very much like to find evidence of America in the Scriptures for the last days, since I am in America and these ARE the last days. If America plays no role in the Tribulation, and we can see the Tribulation just over the horizon, then logic dictates something happens to America before it begins.

Since, on this side of the Tribulation, America is the world’s undisputed superpower, making it ‘go away’ (as the Bible indicates that it must) suggests that ‘somethng’ is ALSO sitting just over the horizon, somewhere before the kickoff to the Tribulation Period. And it must be pretty bad.

For that reason, I wish my correspondent was right; I wish it was, ‘all so plain to see’ America in the end times scenario.

What IS plain to see is that America ISN’T Babylon the Great.

Assessment:

Insofar as Mystery Babylon is concerned, the Scriptures identify it as Rome. An examination of relevant passages lend themselves to no other defensible conclusion:

“And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns. ” (Revelation 17:7)

That is the political ‘beast’ first described by the Prophet Daniel and identified in Daniel 9:26 as the ‘prince of the [Roman] people’ who destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple in AD 70.

Political Rome collapsed in the 5th century, but its political influence remained, carried on through the papal church headquarted in Rome. That isn’t ‘anti-Catholic bashing’ it is secular history.

During the height of its power, no European king could take his throne without Papal approval. Those who dared defy the Pope’s power faced the Pope’s armies.

The power of the papacy waned, but continued to directly influence European politics until the mid-part of the 20th century, when that power began to shift away from religious Rome and back toward the political center, codified by the 1957 treaty of Rome.

As a continuous power, one could argue that Rome was, then wasn’t, yet is.

But one could NOT argue credibly that Rome’s influence ever ceased to be felt throughout the history of the Church Age.

“The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.”

The modern city of Rome is famed throughout the world as the ‘City on the Seven Hills’.

Of ‘Mystery Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots and the abominations of the earth’, the revealing angel tells us this:

“And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.” (Revelation 17:7-10)

Speaking of the antichrist, he is identified with Rome in the next verse as,

“And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.”

Speaking of the Mother of Harlots situated on ‘seven mountains’ the angel says;

“the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.” (Revelation 17:18)

In John’s day, and in the centuries that have passed since, no other city could have been said to have reigned over the kings of the earth EXCEPT Rome.

Revelation Chapter 13 makes it clear that the government of the antichrist is both political, and religious. There are two beasts of Revelation 13 — the first is the political beast, the one we call the antichrist, who appears in 13:1 and a second beast, called the False Prophet, who makes his appearance in verse 11.

The Babylon depicted in Revelation 17 is the religious system of antichrist, which is headquartered on the ‘city on the seven mountains’ The Babylon of Revelation 18 encompasses both the religious and political systems, as embodied by the literal city.

Revelation 18:3 refers to the religious Rome that existed between the fall of the Roman Empire and the mid 20th century. That is a reference to the religious, rather than secular, is confirmed by the next verse, which says, “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” (4)

If this is a reference to America, or any political entity, what sense does THAT make? How does one ‘come out of America’? Move? Where? The Bible doesn’t say, so why bring it up?

Because one CAN ‘come out’ of a religion, and since God frames it by saying, “that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues,” the context makes it clear He is referring to a religious system, not a political city.

Those who equate Babylon to America point to Revelation 18:9;

“And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,” arguing this must be New York City because “all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off, And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!”

It MUST be New York City, because it is a ‘great city’ whose burning can be witnessed from sea, they argue. It MUST be America because America is the great whore who produces most of the porn, consumes most of the cocaine, and is the richest country the world has ever known.

America has existed 226 years. It has been a superpower for 45 years and the world’s premiere superpower for 15 years. Rome’s power has continued to influence global politics and religion without interruption for the last two thousand years.

In additon, Mystery Babylon is called a ‘mystery’ to denote the spiritual nature of the political system. It is a reincarnation of the Babylonish counterfeit system of Nimrod, Semiramus and Tammuz — essentially a goddess cult with a father god figure and a child god figure. America acknowleges only a generic ‘God’.

The city ‘Babylon’ that is destroyed in Revelation 18 gives another important proof that Babylon can’t be America.

The Roman colliseums were filled with captives from the known world fighting as gladiators. When the gladiator games ended, then the slaughter of the Christians would begin. The Apostle Paul was martyred in Rome.

“And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.” (18:24)

One can argue America is no less blood-soaked, but one can hardly characterize America’s ‘victims’ as ‘prophets’ or ‘saints’. (Mostly they were Indians, Mexicans and African blacks taken as slaves)

The Bible says there are four spheres of world power in the last days. Gog-Magog, the revived Roman Empire of antichrist, the Kings of the East and the Kings of the South. Since there is no reference to America, one person’s guess is as good as another’s as to where she might have gone.

Rome played a central role in the history of civilization from John’s day until this very moment. It is about twelve miles from Rome to the coast of the Meditterranean Sea.

Occam’s razor is a logical principle attributed to the mediaeval philosopher William of Occam (or Ockham). His principle of logic states that one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

Put more simply, Occam’s Razor dictates the most obvious answer to a given question is usually the correct one. America doesn’t sit on seven hills. It hasn’t exerted continuous global influence throughout Church history.

And America isn’t drunken with the blood of the martyrs. One can’t say the same about Rome in either its secular political or religious incarnations.

I wish it WERE so simple.

The Hope That is in You

The Hope That is in You
Vol: 21 Issue: 29 Wednesday, March 29, 2017

The Bible divides the world into four regional power blocs in the last days. The western alliance [the Revived Roman empire of antichrist – Dan 9:26], the ‘kings of the south’ [Africa and Islamic North Africa – Dan 11:40] the ‘kings of the east [China and Southeast Asia -Rev 16:12] the Gog-Magog alliance [Russian-Arab-Islamic alliance – Ezekiel 38-39].

The Bible also outlines a specific scenario for the last days, giving detailed descriptions of these four global spheres of influence.

Currently, there are five. Four of them are in a state of flux, realigning themselves, almost against reason in some cases, to conform to the scenario outlined by Scripture.

The fifth, the United States, grows increasingly isolated. Washington is so lonely it has gone into denial, sometimes even pretending it has real friends.

Prime examples of America’s ‘pretend’ friends include Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Pakistan and the core group of Western European nations led by France and Germany. They are our ‘friends’ in the sense they are not currently enemies.

America has only one unquestioning and unequivocal ally within the sea of nations. That ally, the land of Israel, is the central character around which the entire end-time drama is played out.

Assessment:

In this generation, the world has divided itself into four spheres of influence, as measured from Jerusalem; Russia to the north, China to the east, the Islamic Middle East and Africa to the south, and Europe to the west.

America is a sphere of influence unto itself, not part of any, but engaged in — and resented by — all four.

This is the precise lineup of nations predicted by Scripture for a horrible end-times war that will engulf the whole earth.

The Scripture assigns a role to each of these four; Gog-Magog, the Kings of the East, the Kings of the South and the revived Roman Empire of antichrist.

There is no mention of the fifth existing global sphere of influence currently led by America. On the fate of the United States, Scripture is silent.

There are a number of possible reasons. The most obvious one is an expansion of the current world war — one so devastating to America that it has no role left to play in the last days.

Another, more hopeful scenario would be the Rapture of the Church. The sudden disappearance of millions of Americans would also account for America’s absence during the Tribulation Period.

Which scenario is correct remains to be seen. But what is of importance to Christians who are anticipating the return of Christ is the fact it is all taking shape now.

Christianity has no nationality. Jesus said we are in the world, but not of it. Christianity is, at its roots, not American. If Christianity were to have a national identity, it would be Jewish.

This is not a time for fear, but a time for prayer and for redoubling our efforts to inform the world of what is taking place. The Lord is preparing for His return. The signs of the times are all around us. There is no time to waste in pointless debate over signs, and seasons and times.

We of the Church have “a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:” (2 Peter 1:19)

We already know what is to come to pass, and what the signs of the times will be. There is no debate.

And Jesus told us that “when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” (Luke 21:28)

It’s true, my brothers and sisters! Jesus IS coming. The KING is coming! In the words of the old hymn, ‘it may be morning, may be noon, may be evening and maybe SOON’ — but He IS coming.

The fields are white with the harvest, but the laborers be few. Don’t be afraid of what is to come. Everybody you meet will be afraid.

We must be prepared and “be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:”(1 Peter 3:15) “. . .for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.” (Revelation 12:12)

That is the purpose of your Omega Letter. To journal the events that lead to the fulfillment of Bible prophecy in this generation, both as a warning and as a cause for hope.

What appears to be chaos is really evidence of a Divine Order. The events that are conspiring together to bring the world to the brink of annihilation are not taking place at random, but as part of a pre-ordained plan of God.

For those of us who trust God instead of our own understanding, it means that everything will turn out ok in the end, no matter how terrifying things look at the moment.

We don’t know how, we don’t know when, but we don’t really NEED to know. We only need to know that He does. Bible prophecy confirms that everything is going according to plan.

Because we “KNOW that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

Even chaos.

Israel: Lynchpin of Bible Prophecy

Israel: Lynchpin of Bible Prophecy
Vol: 21 Issue: 28 Tuesday, March 28, 2017

“For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the Name of the LORD, to serve Him with one consent.” (Zephaniah 3:9)

Hebrew, as a spoken language, was already on the decline when Latin was still the lingua franca of the day. The modern word “Hebrew” is based in the root word ‘abar’ which means ‘to cross over.’

As a functional, working language, classical Hebrew flourished until around the time of the Babylonian Captivity in the 6th century BC. Under the subsequent Persian, Greek and Roman Empires, the popular use of classical Hebrew waned.

By the mid-part of the 2nd century, scholars studied Hebrew primarily for the purposes of quoting from the Mishnah and Talmud. By this time, Hebrew was primarily a written — rather than spoken — language, apart from its liturgical use in prayer.

But the revival of the Hebrew language as a working language wasn’t even seriously considered until late in the 19th century. There was no need — there had been no need, literally for centuries.

Alexander the Great’s Koine Greek was imposed over Hebrew, which was then superimposed by the Latin of the Roman Empire.

By this time, the working language of the Jewish people was primarily Aramaic. Following Rome’s Destruction of the Temple and the subsequent Diaspora, the Jews of Europe maintained their cultural identity speaking Yiddish, rather than Hebrew.

In 1881, a Lithuanian Jew named Ben Yehuda emigrated to Israel and set out to revive the long-dead Hebrew as a living, working and functional modern language based on classical Hebrew.

When Ben Yehuda’s first son was born in the Promised Land in 1882, he was raised as the first all-Hebrew speaking child in modern history. In December 1890, Ben Yehuda founded the Hebrew Language Council.

In 1922, the UN listed Hebrew as one of the three working languages of the British Mandate, fulfilling Zephaniah’s obscure prophecy that, when God DID call the Jews home to Israel, He would do so in the traditional pure language of Jewish worship, the long-dead language of David the King.

As the 19th century drew to a close, something began to happen within the world-wide Jewish community. It wasn’t really the centuries of persecution, the periodic pogroms, the second-class status of Jews in their host nations that precipitated the sudden attraction of the Jews for the Promised Land.

What was it that caused the Jews of the world-wide Diaspora, after nineteen hundred years, to suddenly decide, in the space of one generation, that NOW was the time to begin the Ingathering?

The Promised Land hadn’t moved. It had been right there for the whole two thousand years. And the late 19th century didn’t offer political hope to the Jews that the Promised Land would suddenly become Jew-friendly.

In 1900, Jerusalem had been under the rule of the Islamic caliphate of the Ottoman Empire for almost four hundred years.

And when I say that world-wide Jewry ‘suddenly’ decided it was time for the world’s Jews to return to their Promised Land, in historical terms, the ingathering was sudden, indeed.

First, the Jews began to long for a homeland. Theodor Hertzl, founder of modern Zionism, wanted a homeland for the Jewish people, first and foremost.

He wrote in 1896, “oppression and persecution cannot exterminate us. No nation on earth has survived such struggles and sufferings as we have gone through. Jew-baiting has merely stripped off our weaklings; the strong among us were invariably true to their race when persecution broke out against them…. “

He even petitioned the British government to allow the creation of a Jewish state in what is modern-day Uganda.

(In rejecting the petition, the British government reminded Hertzl and the Zionists that the Jewish homeland was in Palestine, then part of the Ottoman Empire).

In 1897, Hertzl convened the first Zionist Congress in Basle, Switzerland. Just fifty years later, the Jewish State was ‘born in a day’ fulfilling the words of the Prophet Isaiah.

Twenty-five hundred years ago, the Prophet Isaiah asked these questions:

“Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once?. . . ” and I want you to consider the answers with me carefully.

Q. “Who hath heard such a thing?” A. Of all the generations who ever lived from Isaiah until May 14, 1948, only THIS generation can answer that question, “We Have.”

Q. “Who hath seen such things?” A. When Isaiah asked that question, and for another 2,500 years after that, the answer was, “nobody.”

Of all those generations across the ages, only you and I can say that we hath seen such things a ‘nation born at once’ a nation which, as Isaiah continues, is identified as Zion;

“for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.” (Isaiah 66:8)

We witnessed within our lifetime, the “earth being made to bring forth in one day” that day being December 25, 2001 when the Soviet Union collapsed.

The north at last gave up the last of her captives as the former Soviet refuseniks finally escaped to the Promised Land, fulfilling the promise of the prophet Jeremiah;

“I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring My sons from far, and My daughters from the ends of the earth.” (Isaiah 43:6)

Never in all of recorded history has there been an event more clearly prophesied nor literally fulfilled than the restoration of the Jews to the same piece of geographic real estate from which they had been evicted — not once, but twice.

The prophet Jeremiah predicted that the Jews of the Babylonian captivity would be restored after seventy years — and the Book of Daniel records that prophecy was literally fulfilled after the Babylonians fell to the Persian Empire.

But there was also a second ingathering prophesied for the Jews of Israel by the Prophet Ezekiel, one specifically identified by the prophet as concerning the “latter days” (Ezekiel 38:16)

At that time, said the prophet, the Jews will again inhabit the Land of Promise, which the prophet specifically identifies geographically as “the mountains of Israel” (and not the jungles of Uganda).

It is this second ingathering, the one for the latter days, that constitutes the most overtly miraculous work of God since the First Advent.

From the time of Christ to the modern era, the Jews have been targeted for extermination in almost every corner of the earth where they’ve sought refuge over the ages.

For centuries, without nation, land or flag, they’ve endured; their culture, religion and ethnicity intact, surviving even the Holocaust, Satan’s ultimate effort at wiping out God’s Chosen People.

Assessment:

The modern state of Israel stands as a living monument to the unbreakable Word of God; vibrant and living evidence of God’s existence and His continued involvement in the affairs of mankind.

The manner of its restoration is both overtly miraculous and historically fortuitous. It shouldn’t exist. But in order for any of the prophecies of the Bible for the last days to have any contemporary context, it MUST exist.

Without the existence of a literal, politically viable Jewish State known as “Israel,” none of the prophecies concerning the last days and the coming judgment of the nations find any historical context.

Whatever is happening on the global stage would then serve no particular prophetic agenda and we could draw no particular confidence from seeing it unfold.

But, SINCE there IS such an historical entity as Israel, a nation ‘born in a day’ as a Jewish State, against all the odds, we can know that the events that are unfolding in our lifetimes are following a particular script.

The current world-wide economic crisis has a prophetic context ONLY because there exists a Jewish State called “Israel”. Until the restoration of Israel in 1948, there was no prophetic context into which one could place the Crash of 1929.

We can see the prophetic context now, (thanks to historical hindsight) but the context is that the Great Depression was among the factors that caused the World War that resulted in the fulfillment of the prophecy of the restoration of Israel in the last days.

Looking forward or backward in terms of Bible prophecy, the temporal frame of reference we’re using is May 14, 1948.

For twenty-five millennial prior to that date, the prophecies of the last days were locked in a box, by Divine Decree.

“But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. ” (Daniel 12:4)

The key that unlocks that box is the existence of the Jewish state of Israel. Since Israel’s re-emergence on the world’s stage, she has occupied a much greater portion of the world’s attention than her tiny size would warrant, because that is what the Bible said would be the case.

Israel is at the heart of every conflict, the question of the final status of Jerusalem is as important to America or Russia or Europe as it is to Tel Aviv.

Yet Israel is no larger than Rhode Island, no more populous than New York, and has fewer natural resources than Florida.

Why? Because the Bible is true. The world knows that it’s hours are numbered whether it wants to admit it to itself or not. The signs are all around, and the biggest and most annoying sign of all is that big Star of David over Jerusalem.

It is a constant reminder to the god of this world that his job is only temporary.

The Hopeful Monster

The Hopeful Monster
Vol: 21 Issue: 27 Monday, March 27, 2017

I am convinced that those who believe in evolution do so because they think they are too smart to believe in God. It is a willful ignorance. Any close examination of the evidence for evolution proves the truth of Romans 1:20:

“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:”

Let’s apply some understanding to what is clearly seen, and see where we end up.

Currently, the world’s population doubles every forty years. This is the result of two mathematical principles; exponential growth and doubling time.

This presents a major problem for evolutionary theory.

Evolutionists find themselves in a dilemma when they try to reconcile the population growth curve with their imaginary history of human life.

Like, if man has been living on the Earth for a million years or more, then why are there only 7 billion people here now? When any given quantity’s rate of increase is proportional to its current value, it is said to grow exponentially.

Stated more simply, the larger the quantity, the faster it grows.

‘Doubling’ is the length of time it takes for a quantity, growing at a measurable and sustained rate, to double itself. For example, $100 invested at 7% compound interest will take ten years to double itself to $200, another ten to double to $400, and so on.

So we have two different factors at play here; exponential growth and doubling.

At the time of Christ, the world’s population was only about 300 million people. It took until 1800 for the world population to reach one billion people. But it only took until 1930 for the population to double to two billion.

Thanks to the principle of exponential growth, by 1960 there were three billion, by 1974, four billion, 1985, five billion, 1999, six billion. The global population reached the seven billion mark in the year 2012.

If one applies the principles of doubling and exponential growth to the human population, one gets a whole different picture than the one presented by evolutionary “science.”

The population of the earth has been growing throughout history at a more-or-less constant 1.9%, which means it doubles roughly every forty years. But let’s build in a fudge factor for earthquakes, famines, wars and epidemics and allow 150 years between population doublings.

Assuming a startup population of two people, how long would it take to reach the present population of roughly 7 billion?

That’s the thing about doublings and exponentials. With the population doubling every 150 years and factoring in exponentials, it would take only thirty-two doublings over about 4,800 years for the population of Planet Earth to go from two to the present 7 billion.

Now think it through. How could the population stay below 300 million for a million years and then jump from 300 million to nearly seven billion in just two thousand years?

When it comes to blind faith, it is the evolutionist that is ‘religious’.

Assessment:

Christianity is a peculiar sort of religion, since it’s basic premise is that a religion is not necessary for one’s salvation.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast,” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

But “religion” demands more than that — it must be organized, and that is where it begins to break down. To be a religion, it must be organized by flawed humans. It doesn’t take long before any organized religion breaks down into competing denominations.

Religious evolutionism has at least four major denominations; Classical Darwinism, Neo-Darwinism, the “Hopeful Monster” and Punctuated Equilibrium.

Classical Darwinism proposes that evolution is the result of natural selection and the survival of the fittest. Survival of the fittest has some social problems. Why shouldn’t we eliminate weaker classes of humans which are competing for what we feel we need?

Evolution taken to its logical conclusion would eventually lead to a savage world where the strong determine what is right.

So a new explanation became necessary. Neo-Darwinism adds mutation to Darwin’s survival of the fittest. The problem is that mutations do not produce something new, they merely scramble what is already there.

The Hopeful Monster Theory is advanced as an explanation for why there are no transitionalfossils; that is to say, there are no fossils of anything in the process becoming something else. The Hopeful Monster sees evolution taking place in a single jump; a dinosaur that lays an egg that hatches a robin.

Punctuated Equilibrium also attempts to explain away the lack of evidence like transitional fossils by saying all the changes took place over short periods of time. It relies on the absence of evidence to prove itself — ‘since there’s no evidence of transitional life forms, this is proof that evolution must have happened quickly.’

Seriously.

These are not scientific positions — they are religious ones. Let’s tell the story of evolution the way the kids learn it in school.

Billions of years ago, there was nothing. Then suddenly, nothing exploded into something. Everybody agrees on that. It’s called the “Big Bang Theory.”

This ‘something’ produced hydrogen which, when cooled down enough, magically turned into solid rock. Other hydrogen combined with oxygen which caused it to rain on the rock until it broke down into minerals which washed down into a pool.

Once in this pool, all these minerals combined into a primordial ooze that eventually grew up into plants and animals and mosquitoes and bacteria and evolutionary scientists.

The very word ‘theory’ means “An assumption based on limited information or knowledge; a conjecture” but it is illegal in the United States to teach any other explanation dealing with the origins of life.

Even the ‘abrupt appearance’ theory and without any mention of God is forbidden, despite the fact the abrupt appearance theory has far fewer flaws than does evolution.

We’ve already seen that belief in ‘scientific evolution’ requires a suspension of the provable, immutable mathematics. It also requires the suspension of the laws of physics.

The 2nd law of thermodynamics incorporates the law of ‘entropy’ — the measurable, systematic breakdown of all things into their component elements.

In other words, the fact is that everything ages, and everything breaks down with age.

Entropy is a natural law that can be observed, without scientific instruments or double-talk. A beautifully landscaped park, left untended, becomes an overgrowth of weeds. A new car left parked and untended gets rusty and falls apart. A baby becomes an old person and dies.

Everything decays, eventually. Even earth’s orbit around the sun has a measurable decay factor — yet evolution teaches that — with the addition of a billion or so years, the exact opposite happens!

Evolution is a made-up explanation, constantly under revision, to explain the unexplainable — apart from the existence of God.

The truth makes so much more sense.

”After Two Days, He will Revive Us”

”After Two Days, He will Revive Us”
Vol: 21 Issue: 25 Saturday, March 25, 2017

In the 1650’s an Anglican bishop named James Ussher published his ‘Annals of the World’, subtitled, ”The Origin of Time, and Continued to the Beginning of the Emperor Vespasian’s Reign and the Total Destruction and Abolition of the Temple and Commonwealth of the Jews.”

It was a ponderous title, but Ussher’s work was a ponderous book. First published in Latin, it consisted of more than 1600 pages.

Bishop Ussher was no ordinary man, but one who was unmistakably blessed with incredible intelligence and insight that he devoted entirely to the study of God’s Word. (By age 26, Ussher was chair of the Divinity Department at Dublin University.)

While that in and of itself would be worthy of a lifetime achievement award, Ussher went on to full professorship, served as vice-chancellor of Trinity College twice, and, by age 44, was elevated to the rank of Archbishop of Armagh, the highest position in the Irish Anglican Church.

The point is that Bishop Ussher was not just a smart man. He was an intellectual giant who used his God-given gifts to advance the understanding of God’s Word.

Bishop Ussher’s “Annals of the World” begins at the point of creation, which he determined was October 23, 4004 BC.

Ussher’s arrival at the date of October 23 was determined based on the fact that most peoples of antiquity, especially the Jews, started their calendar at harvest time.

Ussher concluded there must be good reason for this, so he chose the first Sunday following autumnal equinox.

Although the autumnal equinox is September 21 today, that is only because of historical calendar-juggling to make the years come out right.

In September 1752, eleven days were dropped to bring the calendar back in line with the seasons. Another day was dropped at the beginning of the 19th and 20th century for the same reason.

Ussher’s calculations, made centuries before these adjustments, are vindicated by them. Pretty impressive stuff for a guy working by candlelight centuries before the advent of a calculator.

The reason Ussher’s work is so accurate was because he relied solely on Scripture as his source of information.

Ussher arrived at the date of 4004 BC by taking known dates in history, and calculating backwards by using the chronologies of Genesis Chapters 5 and 11 and working backwards. The calculations themselves were so complicated that, in the original documents, they covered more than one hundred pages.

Notes Larry Pierce of the ‘Online Bible’; “Astrogeophysicist Dr John Eddy, who was at the time Solar Astronomer at the High Altitude Observatory at Boulder, Colorado, made some revealing comments at a symposium in 1978, as reported in Geotimes, Vol. 23, September 1978, p. 18.

“There is no evidence based solely on solar observations, Eddy stated, that the Sun is 4.5-5 x 109 years old. “I suspect,” he said, “that the Sun is 4.5-billion years old. However, given some new and unexpected results to the contrary, and some time for frantic recalculation and theoretical readjustment, I suspect that we could live with Bishop Ussher’s value for the age of the Earth and Sun. I don’t think we have much in the way of observational evidence in astronomy to conflict with that.”

Assessment:

We’re all watching our planet and human culture heading into what looks, to all intents and purposes, the early stages of impending demise.

There are daily, breathless reports about the disintegrating environment, global warming, strange weather patterns, unusual solar activity, together with constant revisions of previously accepted scientific ‘facts’ about the universe and how it works.

The global social structure upon which civilization is built, the family, is under attack from every direction. The war on terror, is in reality, a clash of cultures, both natural and spiritual, with the forces of Islam squaring off against Judeo-Christian culture.

The very fabric of human civilization is being rended and torn before our eyes. It is difficult, at the juncture in history, to foresee how it will survive the onslaught. No nation, seemingly, is exempt from the threat.

Recently, a Senate committee calculated a 70% probability, for example, of an attack against the United States with a weapon of mass destruction within the next ten years. Given our own nuclear capability, any retaliatory response by the US could destroy civilization as we know it.

Using Bishop’s Ussher’s calculations, the Prophet Hosea lived from 3197 to 3246, or, BC 808 to 759. Ussher’s dating is expressed in standard years, although he worked from the perspective of the ancient calendar of twelve months of thirty days each. At the end of each year, the ancients tacked on five days, and every four years they added six days.

The prophet Hosea wrote, “Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for He hath torn, and He will heal us; He hath smitten, and He will bind us up. After two days will He revive us; in the third day He will raise us up, and we shall live in His sight.” (Hosea 6:1-2)

Further on, the prophet predicted; “Also, O Judah, He hath set an harvest for thee, when I returned the captivity of My people.” (6:11)

The Jews of the tribe of Judah were ‘revived’ on May 15, 1948, the day the world officially recognized the existence of the state of Israel. Since then, little pockets of Jews, members of the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel, have been discovered in various places and repatriated to their ancient cultures and homeland.

Hosea began with the Promise of God that “He will heal us and bind us up” — a promise that was fulfilled with the Crucifixion and Resurrection of the Messiah Jesus.

With the extension of the Perfect Sacrifice for sins that washed away the sins of all men. (“by the righteousness of One the free gift came upon ALL men unto justification of life.” – Romans 5:18)

We date our own calendar counting forward from Christ. So does God, which brings us back to Hosea’s prophecy. “After two days will He revive us, and in the third day, raise us up,” writes the prophet.

Twice in Scripture, God reveals His own reckoning of time. “For a thousand years in Thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.” (Psalms 90:4)

“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that ONE DAY is with the Lord AS A THOUSAND YEARS, and a thousand years as one day.” (2nd Peter 3:8)

Our calendar dates the Birth of Christ as Year One. It doesn’t much matter if Jesus was born somewhere between 6 BC and 6 AD, given the subsequent manipulation of the various calendars to make them come out right.

Based entirely in Scripture, Ussher’s calculation of creation as being 4004 years before Christ isn’t based on the year of Christ’s Birth. Hosea’s prophecy is.

Ussher took the known date of Nebuchadnezzar’s death as the benchmark from which he launched his backwards journey through time, using Scriptural chronology to move both forward and backward in his calculations.

I hope I haven’t lost you with all the numbers — it makes me a bit dizzy as I work through them myself. (Bishop Ussher was a lot smarter than me. I have trouble even WITH a calculator)

According to Bishop Ussher, the last time Israel marked its God-mandated Jubilee Year was the Year 4030 from the date of Creation, which would correspond to our AD 26. Using Ussher’s calculations, therefore, the Year 2005 dates six thousand and nine years forward from the day of Creation.

And there is a twelve year gap of uncertainty between the Anno Domini calendar and the literal date of His First Advent.

Jesus said that “ye know not what hour your Lord doth come,” and I believe Him. So I am not setting a date for either the Rapture or His Second Coming. But Hosea said that Israel’s revival would come AFTER two days.

It was restored politically in 1948, just BEFORE the conclusion of the ‘two days’ since the Birth of Christ, but Ezekiel’s chronology says that the political revival is only the first stage of Israel’s ‘revival’.

“And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.” (Ezekiel 37:8) The Hebrew word translated ‘breath’ is ‘ruwach’ a word which means ‘spirit’, particularly in the context of ‘spiritual animation’.

Israel is physically alive, but remains, to this moment, spiritually ‘unquickened’. That ‘quickening’ of the spirit is accomplished by faith in Christ. (“And you hath He quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins.” (Ephesians 2:1)

So, to return to Hosea, we find the prophecy that AFTER two days, Israel will be revived, but IN the third day, they will be ‘quickened’ so that Israel might ‘live in His sight’.

Israel’s physical revival has been an ongoing process for fifty-seven years as the world’s Jews, including members of the Ten Lost Tribes, are being regathered to the land of Israel. Ezekiel’s prophecy of Israel’s redemption process is almost complete.

No matter how one approaches it, either by accepting Ussher’s calculations from creation, or accepting our calendar reckoning of time since the birth of Christ, the conclusion is inescapable.

Hosea said of the Jews, ‘AFTER two days will He revive us, and IN the third day . . we will live in His sight.’

Peter says that “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2nd Peter 3:9)

It is clear that God is extending His ‘grace period’ (the Church Age of Grace) to give all men one last chance to accept the gift of pardon that He extends to them, but it is equally clear that His patience is being rapidly exhausted.

How much longer will He wait before returning for His Church and effecting Israel’s national redemption at the conclusion of the Tribulation Period?

Given the twelve-year gap, we are somewhere between three years before and nine years INTO Hosea’s Third Day.

I don’t believe we can calculate the Day of the Rapture, because Jesus said no man could know the day or the hour.

But He did say, “So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.” (Matthew 24:33)

Very near, indeed. Maranatha!

Why Study Prophecy?

Why Study Prophecy?
Vol: 21 Issue: 24 Friday, March 24, 2017

Using the broad stroke definition of Christianity as a ‘religion’ as compared to, say, Buddhism, Islam or Hinduism, Christianity is unique among the religions of the world in that it is the only one that can prove itself.

(I leave Judaism to one side for the purposes of this examination, since, if one proves the branch, the existence of the root is beyond dispute.  Christians accept the whole Bible, Old and New Testament, and it is that Bible that provides the evidence)

The study and presentation of the evidence that proves Christianity is called ‘apologetics’ — a word derived from the Greek ‘apologia’ meaning, ‘to defend’.

Apologetics, therefore, would most accurately described as an informed defense of the faith.  I say ‘informed’ because an uninformed defense is no defense at all.

Worse, it gives the advantage to the enemy.  Just because you can tell somebody else doesn’t know what they are talking about does not automatically mean that you do.

In this context, I use the term ‘enemy’ specifically to describe the spirit behind those who attack the Scriptures, not the actual person being used to do it.  The lost are enemies to the Gospel, but they are not my personal enemies.  They are my potential brothers and sisters in Christ.

I approach from the perspective they are not ‘wrong’ in classic sense, they are simply forming conclusions on inaccurate information. They believe they are right, but their conclusions are formed based on the absence of evidence for the existence of God.

To take on the challenge of ‘proving’ there is no God, the unbeliever takes to himself the logically impossible task of proving a negative.  Because one cannot see God does not mean He does not exist.  One can’t see air, but it exists.  One can’t see gravity, but it exists.

Both, although invisible, exist, and that existence can be proved using empirical evidence.  The same applies to both the existence of God and His intimate involvement in the affairs of men.

Bible prophecy is a particularly powerful evidence of the existence of God, especially to this generation.  To the degree that Bible prophecy can be measured, it has proved itself 100% accurate, 100% of the time.

There are skeptics that will search out some reference that they assign a value of being ‘prophecies’ and then attempt to prove they were unfulfilled.  Once again, they’ve taken on the impossible task of proving a negative.  If it IS a prophecy, then, until the world ends, how can one say it hasn’t been fulfilled?

This is a clue as to whether one is defending the faith or flailing in the wind.  The determined unbeliever will abandon logic in his efforts to win an argument.

There is no more to be gained in continuing that debate than there is in debating the circumference of the earth with a member of the Flat Earth Society.  There is no foundation of logic upon which to continue the debate.

There is no possible way for anyone to know the future in the manner in which the Bible outlines it.  I’ve heard pretty much all the arguments . . . “What if some future society developed time travel and went back to the past? . . . seemingly turning things around and asking that YOU prove a negative.

Bible prophecy is not simply predictions of future events, it is a detailed outline of how the endless variables come together to make those events come to be.  It is beyond the capacity of any human being, or group of human beings.

It is history, written in reverse, a unfolding series of events that come together in the exact pattern necessary to bring about a particular outcome.  It deals, not just with the history of nations, but with obscure individual lives.

“Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done,” is how God describes it. (Isaiah 46:10)

The human writers of Scripture were kings, shepherds, drifters, slaves and sinners.  They came from different parts of the world at different times, in an era when libraries were few and far between.  Yet each book fits cohesively into the next, cross referencing one another as if written by a single individual.

Prophecies uttered by one prophet were confirmed by another, in some cases, without one knowing what the other had written.

In every generation since the Bible was completed, there have been students, thinkers and philosophers as dedicated to the truth as any alive in this generation.  For two thousand years, the debate has raged over the truth of the Bible.

In all those generations, among all those skeptics, in all those debates, with all those scholars, not one single point in Scripture has ever been disproved.

Assessment:

If there were some thinker or philosopher of history who had conclusively disproved a single point in Scripture, he would have been the most famous thinker of all time.  He would have been the one who proved God does not exist, since everything we know of God comes from the Bible and the Bible says of itself that its seal of authenticity is its accuracy.

“Every word of God is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him.” (Proverbs 30:5)

Bible prophecy is God’s signature.  It is empirical evidence that God is real, and that He keeps His promises.

“I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.” (Isaiah 45:19)

Then God issues the following challenge;

“Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save. Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside Me.” (45:20-21)

Bible prophecy is given to us as a tool of apologetics — evidence directly from God for use in the practice of the defense of the faith. Too often, it becomes a kind of Christian ‘parlor trick’ — and I don’t mean that unkindly.

It is easy to get caught up in the wonder of witnessing the fulfillment of Bible prophecy before our eyes — the ‘gee whiz’ factor is exciting stuff. But the purpose of Bible prophecy isn’t to amaze or entertain believers. It is to convict the lost of the certainty of accountability before a Living God and lead them to the Throne of Grace.

Since it is impossible to prove a negative, God has provided us with positive evidence specifically designed for use by this generation.

“Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.” (Matthew 24:34)

“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of His coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, BY THE SAME WORD are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.” (2nd Peter 3:3-7)

The same Word of prophecy that predicted the Flood and saved Noah and his family will be fulfilled as literally in this generation as it was in Noah’s.

The evidence that we are on the brink of catastrophe is not lost on the world.  Bible prophecy was given the Church as evidence this is a controlled catastrophe, so we might introduce the lost to the Controller — while there is still time.

The Last Few Coats of Paint . . .

The Last Few Coats of Paint . . .
Vol: 21 Issue: 23 Thursday, March 23, 2017

”But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” (Daniel 12:4) The vision and prophecy given to Daniel is to be fulfilled at the ‘time of the end’.

The angel says at that time that people will be traveling back and forth on the earth (‘to and fro’) at a time of exponentially increasing knowledge.

We live in a time when information is coming at us so fast that we even have a phrase to describe it — information overload.

Throughout history, new discoveries have come slowly – Noah, Paul and Columbus all sailed in ships.  From Noah’s time to that of Columbus, the most notable technological improvement was the addition of sails.

The personal computer was introduced to the public thirty-two years ago and used mostly for word processing and games like Pong.  Now we can practically look into the window of a stranger who lives half way around the world with ‘street view’ using Google Earth.  Ten years from now, who can imagine where computers will take us?

So, since the signs given to Daniel are taking place before our very eyes, we know that the end time prophecies found in the scriptures are for today.  Furthermore, we can now understand the end time prophecies as never before, since the end time prophecies were sealed up until the time of the end; that is, the understanding of these prophecies was kept a secret until now.

Amos 3:7-8 says,

“Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. . .The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?”

God intended for us to know what He has planned to do before He does it.  It is His Signature, sealing His Word for eternity.

Prophecy is given so that when it does happen we will know that God was in control all the time, so we can have confidence when all the rest of the world sees is chaos.

“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” (2 Peter 3:3-4)

No generation in history needs the Bible more, and no generation in history has eye witnessed more man-made miracles, signs and wonders than this one.

In this generation, calling down ‘fire from heaven’ is a more a technological miracle than a supernatural one.  It is to this specific generation that the prophecies are addressed. Consequently, it is this generation whose attention is most closely focused on the books of Daniel and the Revelation.  And not just by the professing church — that’s where most of the scoffers are.

Assessment:

Look at all the movies about the end times.  They are not being produced by believers for believers, but by Hollywood for unbelievers.  Hollywood believes in prophecy, it just doesn’t believe in God. The same can be said for many unbelievers.

To them, its a parlor trick, but to us, it is the power of God.

“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:18)

Prophecy is the ONE miracle no human being can recreate with technology.  Conseqently, prophecy is given to that one generation who needs it the most.

Matthew 24:36-39 tells us,

“But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”

No one knows the exact day and hour, but we can know when His return is near.  The unbelievers of Noah’s day were taken unawares, but Noah was not surprised.  Noah knew one hundred and twenty years beforehand that the flood was coming.

Noah did not know the exact day of the flood; but when Noah finished building the ark, he knew the flood was near.

We also see the construction process for the last days ark coming to an end.

Prophecy is not given to remain a secret forever, but at the proper time God gives understanding to those who will take notice and believe.

You are an example of fulfilled prophecy for the last days.  You are one of the ‘watchmen on the wall’ that Scripture anticipated and Bible scholars have awaited for centuries.

“But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.” (Ezekiel 33:6)

Sir Isaac Newton, in addition to being one of the world’s greatest scientific minds, was also a devout believer who was a careful student of Bible prophecy.

He wrote four hundred years ago, that,

“About the time of the end, a body of men will be raised up, who will turn their attention to the prophecies, in the midst of much clamor and opposition.”

The Omega Letter exists because I don’t want to stand before the Bema Seat and explain to Jesus why I kept silent when I saw the sword coming.  You subscribe to the Omega Letter for much the same reason.

The Bible says the last days’ Church will have watchmen appointed, and scoffers (both saved and unsaved) that will require warning.

Only a tiny fraction of the overall Church sees the sword coming.  The rest continue to scoff.  And they will, until the Rapture.  But they will still be there to hear the trumpet when it sounds.

1 Thessalonians 4:15 tells us,

“For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.”

Not every Christian knows the signs of the times.  Just as not every Christian has a burden for the lost.  It is a unique spiritual gifting.  By definition, since this is a subscriber-based and member-supported ministry, you also share that gift, that burden for the lost, and that sense of urgency.

That is why we come together in the forums.  To counsel and encourage each other as we struggle with the weight of that burden.  And find ways to make it lighter by sharing the load.  And to get a deeper understanding so we are prepared ‘to give reason of the hope that is in us.’

It is important to understand that end time prophecies are written from the perspective of Israel and Jerusalem, but given to the Church as an early warning system.

The Tribulation is the Time of Jacob’s Trouble and has no relationship with the Church.  But we can see from this side of the Rapture, the Tribulation looming on the other side.

One can tell a storm is coming by watching the gathering clouds.  You needn’t wait for the rain,if you can read the signs.

The blossoming of the fig tree has to do with the Jews, and the generation of the end that Jesus mentioned is a generation of Jews.  He was speaking to Jews.  The Church wasn’t born until Pentecost.  There were no Christians before the Crucifixion and Resurrection.  Even Peter denied the Lord before the Church Age.

So, the countdown began with the restoration of Israel on May 14, 1948.

Jesus said that, “this generation will not pass away until all these things take place”.  This can only mean that some of the people of that generation will still be alive when Jesus returns at the end of the tribulation.

We know the length of a generation from Scripture.  Somewhere between the extremes of 20 and 120 years.

Psalms 90:10 gave the median age of a generation,

“The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.”

Genesis 5 limits a lifespan to 120 years, which is about the age of the oldest human being recorded by Guiness.

But the normal ‘strong’ man can expect to live only 80 years, according to the word of God.  That also corresponds to latest life expectancy figures for anyone born in this generation.

Taken together, the Scriptures suggest that every Jew who was twenty years old and older and was in the land of Israel on May 14, 1948, is part of the end time generation.  And some of them will still be living when the Lord returns at the end of the Tribulation Period as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

But, since Jesus said no man could count the day or the hour, it is possible that members of the end-time generation could live forty years past the ‘strong’ man’s 80 years.  The Lord said only that we would know the general time.

No matter how long the last generation lives, one thing is certain, we are now living in the last generation.  That means there are people alive today who can be certain they will never die, in the conventional sense.

“He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:11-13)

Jesus came to the Jews at His first Advent, and they rejected him, opening the door to the Gentiles for salvation.  Consequently, Gentiles receive the Spirit of Adoption, whereby we cry, “Abba” (Romans 8:15)

That is a very important word picture for us to understand. Under Jewish law, a natural parent can disown a child.  But an adopted child cannot be disowned or disinherited, since the adoptive parent made a deliberate choice.  And the term, “Abba” is a term of endearment roughly equivalent to “Daddy”.  ‘Abba’ is what Israeli children call their Dads to this day.

All those who believe in Him are born again, they are made a new creation, they are no longer a child of Adam but they are now a adopted child of God.  A child who cannot be ‘unadopted’ since, in God’s economy, He has chosen us, rather than the other way around.

“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you . . ” (John 15:16)

“. . .but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.” (John 15:19)

“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:” (Ephesians 1:4)

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.” (1 Peter 2:9)

Our salvation is a gift of grace, not of works, lest any man should boast.  It is faith that savesus, and that faith is itself a gift of God.  The Scriptures promise that when Jesus Christ returns at the Rapture, He will take us to be with Himself and we will be with Him forever.

“In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (John 14:2-3)

The construction project is almost completed.  A couple more coats of paint . . . and soon the Master Builder will Personally welcome us Home!

How cool is that?

Featured Commentary: Does God Have Attitude? ~J.L. Robb

The ‘New Creature’

The ‘New Creature’
Vol: 21 Issue: 22 Wednesday, March 22, 2017

According to Scripture, there are four classes of created rational beings in the universe, namely, angels, Gentiles, Jews and Christians. That fact is critical to rightly dividing the word of truth. Each is a different spiritual being, each has a different origin, present estate and a unique destiny.

Angels are the first of the created, rational beings.

“Praise ye Him, all His angels: praise ye Him, all His hosts. . . Let them praise the name of the LORD: for He commanded, and they were created.” (Psalms 148:2,5)

The Bible teaches that their home is in heaven (Matthew 24:36), their activity is both on earth and in heaven (Psalms 103:20Luke 15:10Hebrews 1:14) and their destiny is the Eternal City of Revelation 21:12.

“But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels. . .” (Hebrews 12:22)

Angels are unique creations of God, not to be confused with any other of God’s created beings. Even though some fall, as was the case with Satan, the fallen angels remain angels throughout their existence. Their numbers are constant; they neither propagate nor die.

The second class of created beings are the Gentiles. The Gentiles trace their origin to Adam. They are partakers in the fall of man, but Scripture says that some of them will share, as a subordinate people, with Israel during the Millennial Kingdom. (Isaiah 2:460:3,5,1262:2, and Acts 15:17

As to their estate, from Adam until Christ, the Gentiles “without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world.” (Ephesians 2:12).

Since the Resurrection, the door of Gospel privilege has been opened to the Gentiles, and out of both Gentiles and Jews of this age, God is calling an elect company.

“Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as He did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God? When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.” (Acts 11:17-18)

The period of time bounded by the Babylonian captivity through to the end of the Church Age is called by Scripture “the times of the Gentiles.” (Luke 21:24

The third class of created beings are the Jews. By the calling of Abraham, and all that God accomplished through him, a new race of beings was begun that, under unalterable Divine covenant and promise, continues forever.

So different is this race of created beings that some five-sixths of Scripture bears directly or indirectly on the Jews. The destiny of the Jews is traceable through the Millennial Kingdom and into the new heaven and earth which follows.

In this present Church Age, all Divine progress in the national and earthly program for Israel is on hold; individual Jews have the same privilege as the individual Gentiles of personal faith in Christ as Savior. But Scripture is clear that, when the present age concludes, God will again turn His attention to the national redemption of Israel.

The fourth class of created beings are the Christians. Christians are those called out of both Jew and Gentile, and are formed by the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit.

“For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him.” (Romans 10:12)

Christians are neither Gentile nor Jew, but a new spiritual creation in Christ.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2nd Corinthians 5:17)

“For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.” (Galatians 6:15)

The Christian, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, is a citizen of heaven (Philippians 3:20), having been raised WITH Christ (Colossians 3:1-3) and are so different than any other created rational being that, of the Christian, Jesus says, “They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” (John 15:1917:14,16)

Note carefully that the spiritual rebirth and heavenly position [in Christ] are by faith alone. By definition, human operation is excluded. The only responsibility imposed on the human side of the equation is trusting in the only One Who can save.

The Scriptures which direct a Christian in his walk with the Lord are adapted to the fact that the Christian is no longer striving to secure a standing before God, but is already ‘accepted in the beloved’.

“To the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved.” (Ephesians 1:6)

Christians, by their existence, have already attained every spiritual blessing; “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ . .” (Ephesians 1:3)

Obviously, no human effort can bring a person to fulfill God’s standard of sinless perfection. God, anticipating the believer’s inability to walk worthy of his high calling, freely bestows His empowering Spirit to indwell each believer.

Scripture also promises that when their elect number is complete, as unique citizens of heaven, they will be removed from the earth at the Rapture. The bodies of believers who have died will be raised and living saints will be translated. (1st Corinthians 15:20-571st Thessalonians 4:13-18)

At the Bema Seat in glory, believers will be judged as to their rewards for service. (1st Corinthians 3:9-159:18-272nd Corinthians 5:10,11), the Body of Christ will be wed to the Bridegroom, (Revelation 19:7-9) and return WITH Him to share as His consort during the Millennial Reign.

This new creation, like angels, Gentiles and Jews, can be traced into eternity future, but they are unique from the rest. They possess no land, no house, no earthly capital or city, no earthly kingdom and no earthly king.

Scripture promises that the Jews will inherit the earth. The Gentiles will inhabit it with them as a subordinate people. But the Church does not share in that inheritance.

“And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified together.” (Romans 8:17

The Jews and Gentiles inherit the earth. Church Age believers inherit the universe!

The Age of Grace concludes at the Rapture. The Tribulation Period is the final seven years of the Age of Law, under which God will judge a Christ-rejecting world. During this period, some Gentiles will become believers, but, unlike during this present age, they are not indwelt by the Holy Spirit, Whose earthly ministry concludes at the Rapture.

During the Church Age, believers are promised to ‘resist the devil and he will flee from you,’ because ‘greater is He that is in you than He that is in the world. (James 4:71st John 4:4)

But during the Tribulation, “it was given unto him [antichrist] to make war with the saints, and to overcome them.” (Revelation 13:7) Those who enter the beast’s worship system, believers or not, and accept his mark are forever lost.

Assessment:

As you can see from the revealed Word, there is no place for the Church during Daniel’s 70th week. The Church is excluded from the judgments pronounced against a Christ-rejecting world, and the Church plays no role in the national redemption of Israel.

Since the Church Age is characterized by the promise that, “He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever” (John 14:6) while, during the time of Jacob’s Trouble, the Holy Spirit’s role is limited to ‘sealing’ the 144,000 Jewish evangelists of Revelation 7:3-8, the Church’s presence on earth during the Tribulation has no place in the plan of God.

Since, by definition, Church Age believers are NOT Christ-rejecting and are NOT part of God’s plan for the national redemption of Israel, the only role the Church could play during the Tribulation would be to face the judgments of God, bereft of the indwelling Holy Spirit, comfortless, and with no earthly destiny or purpose apart from becoming the antichrist’s cannon fodder.

Consider it this way. For the last two thousand years, Church Age believers have enjoyed fellowship with God, thanks to the imputed righteousness of Christ and empowered by the indwelling Holy Spirit. Jesus promised He would not leave us comfortless, and that the Holy Spirit will abide with us forever.

But, in the final hours of human history, when man’s corruption has reached its peak and God pours out His judgment against them for their unrepentant sin, (“Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts,” – Revelation 9:21), some would argue that those living in those days will be stripped of their indwelling Spirit, God breaks fellowship with them, leaving them to face the worst period of spiritual trial in the history of creation alone.

For that to be true, of all the generations of believers from the Apostle Paul until the revelation of ‘that Wicked’ — the believers of the last days are the only ones to whom the promise, “I will not leave you comfortless” is meaningless.

The new spiritual creation must then, by definition, revert back to its old form of either Jew or Gentile, and share in the judgments being poured out upon them. The new creature, indwelt by the Holy Spirit and spiritually empowered to resist the devil, with the promise that ‘he will flee from you’ — will find that is no longer true. How else could they be ‘overcome’ by him as Revelation 13:7 says the Tribulation saints will be?

It is not POSSIBLE for Church Age believers to play a role in the Tribulation, other than as recipients of God’s justice for sin, although believers, by definition, have already been judged and found righteous at the Cross.

Consider the Promises of Jesus, given the Church, in the context of the Tribulation Period.

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:26-27)

“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. . . ” unless you are among those believers of the last generation. If the destiny of the Church is to partake in God’s judgment against the world, then my heart should be troubled indeed, and I should be very, very afraid.

His peace was for all the generations that went before. But not for mine?

The Scriptures say otherwise.

The God of Tolerance

The God of Tolerance
Vol: 21 Issue: 21 Tuesday, March 21, 2017

Since there are so many forms of ‘god’, there is a popular myth that dictates there are as many ways to God as there are forms of ‘god.’

It sounds logical enough, if one prefers a ‘god of their own understanding’ over an omnipotent God Who understands all.

A ‘god of one’s own understanding’ could just as easily be described as the ‘God I Made Up To Suit Me’.

The ‘god of one’s own understanding’ is a god whose attitudes reflect his inventor. Since this god has no rules, he is the easiest one to follow, which explains why he is so popular.

We’ve all joked that the quickest way to clear a room is to bring up Jesus as a topic of conversation. At Branson, Frank joked that if we wanted to get the pavilion center early, we could just start passing out tracts. It was funny, because it is true.

It is this worldview that gives rise to the myth that a ‘real ‘ God would be tolerant of other religions, and that genuine Christianity is a ‘tolerant’ spiritual worldview; whereas the kind of Christianity practiced by Christian ‘fundamentalists’ is intolerant and therefore an aberration of ‘real’ Christianity.

It is educational to spend a bit of time browsing websites that offer studies in comparative religions. You will find ‘true’ Christianity defined a religion of peace and tolerance, and ‘fundamentalist’ Christianity defined as a religion of hate and intolerance.

The self-styled ‘Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance’ defines ‘real’ Christianity this way at its website: “An individual or group is Christian if they sincerely, thoughtfully and devoutly believe that they are Christian.”

Where does the ‘intolerance’ come from? It comes from the ‘fundamentalist’ view that one must be ‘born-again’ to be saved.

That excludes the vast majority of professing Christians who put their faith in their self-identification as Christians, or those who put their faith in their membership in a particular church system.

Those are what I call ‘cultural’ Christians, because I used to be one myself.

I was born and raised in an Irish-Catholic family. I went to a Catholic school. I attended Mass regularly. I went through all the rites of passage; First Confession, First Communion, Confirmation, etc.

As a Catholic, I considered myself a Christian. Not because I had entered into a voluntary relationship with Christ, but because I had been baptized by the Church as a infant.

If you asked me if I was a Christian, I would have certainly answered yes. But I wasn’t saved.

The fundamental doctrine, ‘ye must be born again,’ left me, and millions of other ‘Christians’ like me, living in a spiritual ‘fool’s paradise’, endlessly swimming upriver to nowhere.

When I was a kid, I remember wanting to beat up the kid who first told me that I wasn’t really a Christian, and that I had to be born again. He was the first person to share Christ with me.

That kid made an impact on me that was so profound that I remember every detail:

I was in the 4th Grade in Miss Duggan’s class at Our Lady of Victory School in Fort Erie, Ontario. It was in early June and class had let out early as the school year was winding down.

I was watching a group of kids playing baseball in the school yard when a kid walked up beside me and we started talking. At one point, he asked me if I was a Christian.

I snorted in disbelief, and said, “Of course. ” I waved my arm back toward Our Lady of Victory School. “That’s my school. I am a Catholic.” To me, that settled it.

He persisted, “But are you a Christian? Have you been born again?”

“I don’t need to be ‘born-again.’ I told you, I’m a Catholic.”

“Then you aren’t a Christian,” my new acquaintance informed me.

Being a fourth-grader with limited debating skills, I shouted, “Am so!”, before threatening to beat the tar out of him if he said that one more time.

(I guess I showed HIM which one of us had the love of Christ in him.) But he gave me a look before turning away that stuck in my mind.

And I note with some surprise as I turn it over in my mind that I recall every detail of that long-ago spring day when I first heard I wasn’t born again except that other little boy’s name.

It was the message that I remember. Not the messenger.

All I can recall about the messenger was that I hated him for telling me. How dare he exclude me from heaven? I was an altar boy, for crying out loud! What did he know?

As I dwell on the memory, I am surprised at just how angry I was at the time. I preferred the God of my understanding. He and I had a comfortable arrangement. I had done the 12 Stations of the Cross on All Saint’s Day the year before and had earned a Scapular Medal.

Wearing that Scapular Medal was an iron-clad guarantee from Mary herself that I would not die without a priest at hand to grant me Extreme Unction (last rites) to ensure my entrance into heaven.

That was what I had been taught, and that was what I was trusting my eternity to. Along comes this kid and tells me all that time and effort and study was meaningless if I wasn’t born-again!

It filled me with hate, which I immediately transferred to that other kid. Excluding me from heaven was hateful.

Not to mention intolerant.

Assessment:

The Bible says that the system of the antichrist, as it will exist during the Tribulation Period, will rest on three pillars of power. He will control a global system of government, a global economic system, and a global religious system.

That there is a global government-in-waiting is beyond doubt.

Every nation in the world has its share of committed globalists who send representatives to the United Nations to advance their vision of world peace through global government.

The existence of a global economy is much further advanced than is the global government. The global economy is so concentrated that 98% of all international transactions pass through a single financial clearinghouse in Belgium called the ‘Swift Network’ — as the NYTimes so helpfully revealed to the enemy in 2008.

But there is not yet a functioning global religious system. Throughout history, there have been plenty of candidates — most particularly the Vatican.

But, as the revealing Angel told Daniel, the prophecies for the last days were sealed ‘until the time of the end’ when ‘knowledge shall be increased.’ (Daniel 12:4)

As the end approaches the picture gets a bit clearer:

The world is currently engaged in what is alternatively styled as the ‘global war against terror’ or, ‘the global war against Islamic fundamentalism’ — but the latter is the closest to being accurate.

The war is being fought in Islamic countries against Islamic fundamentalists who use terror as a weapon. But the war isn’t against terrorism. It is against Islamic terrorism.

As we’ve heard innumerable times, the enemy is the Muslim who practices the fundamentals of the Koran, including jihad, rather than the peaceful majority who are more ‘moderate’ and only practice those parts of the Koran that talk about peace, love, and, especially, (since it is included in every speech about Islam) Islamic ‘tolerance.’

It isn’t true, but it is the operational understanding around which Western foreign policy is constructed. The bad guys are the fundamentalists who take the Koran a bit too literally.

The good guys are the Jews and the Crusader Christians, as embodied by Israel and the United States. Within each country there exists two versions of religious thought. The ‘moderates’ and the ‘right wing’.

The ‘moderates’ share the religious characteristics of their enemy counterparts. They espouse the principles of peace, love and, especially tolerance.

Then there is the fundamentalist view of the ‘right wing.’ You know who the ‘right wing’ is without my telling you. They are the bug-eyed, spittle-spewing warmongering minority within the larger body of Judaism and Crusader Christianity.

They are the ones who advocate the rebuilding of Israel’s Temple in Jerusalem, oppose the creation of a terrorist state beside Israel, oppose the division of Jerusalem, and the destruction of our shared enemy.

They accept the testimony of the Bible as legal title for Israeli possession of the Land of Promise and support Israel’s right to exist as a matter of religious doctrine.

It is the ‘fundamentalists’ that blow up abortion clinics, shoot up crowded mosques, and, worst of all, promote religious disharmony by their insistence on exclusivity. The fundamentalists are the ones who take the Bible too literally.

The entire ecumenical movement is stalled in its tracks by religious fundamentalism. And the worst offender is Christian fundamentalism. The kind of fundamentalism I first encountered in a school yard one warm spring day in June four decades ago (that made me want to punch that kid’s face off.)

The war against terror IS a war against fundamentalism — but primarily against Islamic fundamentalism — for now.

Ultimately, religious fundamentalism of all kinds will be cited as being responsible for the wars that have plagued mankind and will be outlawed, as it was by Imperial Rome during its slide, as a ‘hate crime’.

Especially Christian and Jewish fundamentalism. The ‘tolerant’ god of Islam will demand it as a condition of peace (and dhimmitude) with the West.

“And when these things BEGIN TO COME TO PASS, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” (Luke 21:28)
