The Prince of Persia

The United States is reportedly furious with al-Jazeera TV (what s new?) for airing an audiotape of al-Qaeda s number two man issuing strike orders to its operatives. The speaker, Ayman al-Zawahiri, urged terrorists to conduct more September 11-scale attacks against the United States.
Secretary of State Colin Powell denounced al-Jazeera’s broadcast of the audio tape, which was full of threats against the United States, its Iraq war allies and moderate Arab states, was irresponsible journalism and particularly unwelcome at a time of heightened alert against terror attacks.
“All it does is heighten tension throughout the region allowing terrorists to have this kind of access to the airway,” he said.
“I spoke to the Qatari foreign minister about it earlier today. I think they are taking some action but it’s too late. The information is already out there on that tape. Do we know if it is an accurate tape? Is it not accurate? Who knows? But in any event it is heightening tension throughout the world, and it spreads more hatred throughout the world, and I wish they had made a different editorial judgment about it.”
The voice heard on the tape urged Muslims to follow the example of the perpetrators of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror strikes in New York and Washington, and attack embassies and other interests of the United States and its allies in the Iraq war, including Arab states that gave logistical support to the operation.
“The crusaders and the Jews only understand the language of murder, bloodshed … and of the burning towers,” Zawahri said, referring to New York’s World Trade Center towers. “Attack the missions of the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and Norway and their interests, companies and employees. Turn the ground beneath their feet into an inferno and kick them out of your countries,” Zawahri said.
The Norwegians were a bit confused about being targeted by al Zawahiri, since they have steadfastly maintained a policy of appeasement toward the Arab world, and opposed the war with Iraq. Heck, the majority of Norwegians wouldn’t even identify themselves as Christians, let alone ‘Crusaders’.
Western analysts of the al-Zawahiri tape are theorizing that the terrorist meant coalition member Denmark. (So much for the policy of appeasement).
Anyway, Zawahiri sicced the terror network on NORWAY as well as the rest of the Western world, saying, “Do not allow (them) and other crusaders the murderers of your Iraqi brothers to live in your countries and enjoy their wealth and spread corruption.”
This and other references lead analysts to believe that while the speaker is indeed al-Zawahiri, the audio tape was recorded sometime before the outbreak of Gulf War Two.
The release of the tape came as officials from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Oman met in Riyadh to discuss regional security, postwar Iraq and the Middle East conflict.
The Arab network s editors responded to the US blast by denying the tape was aired unedited , saying that only the most significant and newsworthy parts of it had been aired.
Given that al-Jazeera not only had the opportunity to edit the tape, but actually admitted that it DID edit the tape, the US accusations of irresponsible journalism are understated.
The Arab network could have easily edited out the call to arms that was issued against the Arab world. But they selectively chose to air that part as significant and newsworthy .
The United States has invested considerable blood and treasure in its effort to degrade al-Qaeda s command and control network as part of the war on terror. The broadcast of the al-Zawahiri tape was a more effective method of issuing orders on a world wide scale than al-Qaeda s internal command and control mechanism would have been BEFORE the war began.
The al-Jazeera network is far more than just an Arab news network reporting global events from an Arab perspective.
al-Jazeera reported an accidental firefight between Afghan soldiers and US troops guarding the US Embassy under the headline, Drunken U.S. Troops Kill 4 Afghan Soldiers . That was the headline; the story itself was an accurate account of a firefight in which US troops fired on what they thought was a group of attacking Afghanis.
Afghanistan’s head of security Basir Salangi told Agence France-Presse (AFP) that “American soldiers guarding the entrance to the U.S. embassy opened fire by mistake on a group of Afghan soldiers who were unloading some material from the other side of the road, in front of an Afghan security agency building. “The Americans thought it was an attack attempt, it was a misunderstanding.”
The al-Jazeera report contained no explanation of the Drunken US Troops headline. The news crawl across the bottom of the screen planted the suggestion. That was enough.
That al-Jazeera is an anti-American, pro-Islamic propaganda machine widely used by the Islamic terror network to spread its message is also self-evident and goes far beyond what Colin Powell calls irresponsible journalism.
The decision to air the al-Zawahiri tape was an act of complicity with the al-Qaeda terror network against the United States and its allies, the “Christian Crusaders”.
It is worthy of note that al-Jazeera TV is licensed to broadcast in the United States and is carried on a number of US cable networks and satellite systems.
When the prophet Daniel prayed for three weeks before receiving a response, the angel that came to him explained that he was delayed because the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. (Daniel 10:12-13)
The angel then told Daniel the purpose of his appearing; Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days. (14) In verse 21, the angel refers to Michael when speaking to Daniel as your [Israel s] prince [archangel] .
The angel told Daniel that the vision was specifically for the last generation, and refers to a spiritual conflict between the Prince of Persia and the Archangel Michael, whom the angel calls Israel s prince.
The angel revealed to Daniel the existence of some kind of dark demonic power that rules spiritually over that part of the world. Since Michael fights against the Prince of Persia, it is reasonable to conclude that the conflict between Israel and the Islamic world is the physical manifestation of this spiritual conflict.
Paul identifies our enemy in the last days as consisting of, principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
One of most basic principles of warfare is this: Know your enemy.
