The Power of Prayer

The Power of Prayer
Vol: 16 Issue: 1 Wednesday, January 1, 2003

There is no doubt that there were a lot of folks praying that the New Year would make its entrance devoid of terrorist attacks.

I know that is what I was praying for, as were most of those who have already posted their New Year’s prayer at our Internet Prayer Vigil forum.

This morning’s OL will be somewhat abbreviated this morning so I can give my full attention to prayer and the prayer forum.

But here’s a quick roundup.

The broader investigation into fake IDs and terrorism now spans several countries, including Canada, Pakistan and Britain.

The five men the FBI have been looking for are still at large this New Year’s Day. The FBI plans to release the photos and aliases of six more Middle Eastern men who entered the US under similar forged documents over the same period.

The additional names expected to be made public early today came from the same Canadian intelligence sources that identified the five men whose identities were released over the weekend.

I fell asleep in my chair last night watching the news coverage. Like you, when I awoke this morning, I was almost afraid to look.

I switched the news on, and the first words I heard were, “The New Year passed in the United States with NO acts of terrorism.”

Praise the Lord for His mercy.

Assessment:

We serve a prayer-answering God. Can’t explain it more clearly than that.

Don’t forget to add your prayer to ours for 2003 at our special prayer forum.

Happy New Year and God bless us all.
