Special Members’s Report – Omega Letter Sit-Rep

Special Members’s Report – Omega Letter Sit-Rep
Vol: 14 Issue: 22 Friday, November 22, 2002

From time to time, we like to give you a situation report on where we are, what is coming up and how things are going. The Omega Letter is accomplishing its mission, judging by the emails we are receiving. Many of you have written to share how the Omega Letter has been of benefit to your personal ministries.

We received an email from one prison missionary who uses the Omega Letter every week during his prison visitations. (He told us he has to print extra copies for the guards). Many others have written to tell us they found the Omega Letter useful reference material for their Sunday School classes and several pastors have written to say the OL has inspired prophecy classes in their churches.

So we are having an impact on the Body of Christ — and it is all positive. When I say ‘we’ I mean ALL of us. We put it together on this end, but it wouldn’t be possible without each of you. These praise reports arrive in heaven with YOUR names on them, too.

You’ve probably noticed (gee, I really hope you noticed) all the changes Mike has wrought in recent weeks at the Omega Letter. It is truly becoming a thing of beauty, if I do say so myself.

We’ve added several new voices to the Omega Letter; Joe Wynne, Greg Linkous and J.M.Dass.

We are grateful to the Lord for sending us such terrific help — I, for one, have been getting really tired of me. I am looking forward to the additional perspectives Joe, Greg and Joy will bring.

Our forums have really begun to pick up traffic and activity. I am so pleased to see the friendships that are developing. We are truly becoming a community.

On the subject of forums — we are adding several new forums. One of which will be open to the public and unmoderated. This is a risky step — although we will require registration before allowing someone to post, we have no way of knowing who they are or what perspective they might bring.

We deliberately decided to set it up as ‘unmoderated’ — although we will regularly police it and remove objectionable posts. But since it will operate largely as a public forum, remember to enter at your own risk. Public forums tend to attract some pretty coarse elements.

We decided to set it up this way anyway, in the hope that some who come to scoff will stay to pray. But it could be kind of gritty at times — remember if you visit the public forums that the only requirement for becoming a Christian is that you must first be a sinner.

Mike is almost ready to add another forum — one I am very excited about. At the bottom of an article will be a text input box where you can append your own comments. These will then become a permanent part of the article database. This forum, too, will be public, although we will require registration and make every effort to ensure the content is appropriate.

Objectionable comments will be deleted. By ‘objectionable comments’ I mean comments of a profane, blasphemous, or obscene nature — not comments telling me I am a jerk. I don’t object to those comments at all. ‘Same to ya!’

We’ve also added a feature we’ve called ‘Like Deja Vu All Over Again’ where we will rerun previous commentary from our archives on a daily basis.

Our mission is to provide you with evidence you can use to confront the scoffers. You’ll find this section particularly helpful, since we are often months ahead of the curve.

There can only be two possible explanations for this. One explanation is that I am particularly brilliant and can divine the future. (Yeah, right. And Osama is a closet Christian)

Having disposed of Explanation #1, that only leaves Explanation #2 for why months-old articles read like yesterday’s news.

Think of it as a simple ‘if-then’ equation. IF we analyze the news from the unwavering perspective that these are the last days, reading Bible prophetic trends as if the Bible were almost describing them in real-time, THEN if these are the last days, we will be spectacularly right. With the corrollary equation that IF these are not the last days, THEN we will be spectacularly wrong. You decide.

The feature, “Like Deja Vu All Over Again” is not intended to establish Explanation #1, but rather Explanation #2. The Omega Letter is a non-prophet ministry, apart from the prophets of the Bible. So ‘Deja Vu All Over Again’ is designed to be evidence of the accuracy of Scripture for the last days. Apart from Scripture, we’d just be guessing. And we’d be wrong most of the time.

The plan for an audio Omega Letter is still operational; it is just taking a bit longer than we anticipated to get some of the other improvements finished first.

And we continue to look for a chat room solution for OL. That is another improvement I am very excited about. It will give us a chance to interact one on one plus meet at regular times as a group to discuss events as they develop.

Mike is also very excited about a feature he is calling “My Omega Letter” as well. When we get closer to this one, I’ll let you in on the details.

It’s been a year of hard work but things are beginning to fall into place. A few things are already in place, a few more will be soon, but we are almost over the hump.

As we roll these features out, let us know what you think and what you like as well as what you don’t.

May God richly bless each of you and yours, and make your individual ministries exceedingly fruitful, until He comes,

Jack

Note: Yesterday’s Omega Letter was very late. I forgot to hit the ‘send’ button. Thanks for writing to point that out. Mea culpa — I beg your forgiveness. -JK
